Bahrain forum to probe power issues in Gulf

The latest developments in the electricity and energy industry in GCC will form part of the agenda at an upcoming forum in Bahrain.

Experts meeting at GCC Power 2014 will also discuss collaboration between international commissions as well as scientific research efforts among GCC power authorities, reported theGulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The forum is being organised by the GCC Regional Committee for Electric Systems (GCC CIGRE) under the patronage of Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr Abdulhussain Mirza at the Gulf Hotel from November 10 to 12. The high organising committee for the mega event has announced the completion of all preparations for the conference.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to discuss the latest trends and strategies to meet the region's rapidly expanding energy needs through a series of panel and technical sessions.

'I'm confident that GCC Power 2014 will be a great success in Bahrain, providing special opportunity for more than 350 experts to exchange experiences and ideas in this field, selecting what mostly suits every country needs in terms of power solutions and applications, thanks to many high calibre scientific experts and innovative minds from the power sector, who will take part. All participants will benefit,' said organising committee head and GCC CIGRE board member engineer Kamel Al Shehabi.

The technical committee of GCC CIGRE has chosen 60 best presentations out of 120 scientific papers from 20 countries to be discussed during the three-day event, taking into consideration variation and focusing on vital subjects that tackle the power sector's ongoing and future matters in the gulf region, and how to sustain the growth of this significant sector by coming up with fruitful recommendations.

Participants will also have the chance to witness the 19th exhibition for electrical equipment, which will be held during the three-day GCC Power 2014, featuring more than 45 exhibitors, showcasing the latest technologies and power solutions around the globe. – TradeArabia News Service
