Qatargas sponsors Doha condensate forum

DOHA, November 4, 2014

Qatargas is a gold sponsor of the 18th annual Condensate and Naphtha Forum which opened yesterday (November 3) at the Ritz Carlton Doha.

Held annually since 1996 in Asia, Middle East & Australia, the two-day Condensate & Naphtha Forum is the only one of its kind and it is being held once again in Qatar this year.

The forum provides a platform for discussion of the latest developments and dissemination of key market trends, opportunities and challenges of the industry. A large number of international professionals from national oil companies, oil majors, leading consultants, refiners, traders and feedstock players from over 45 countries attend this forum.

Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatargas CEO, said:  “Laffan Refinery is of strategic importance as it will contribute to diversifying Qatar’s energy mix and further strengthen the capacity to respond to the country’s changing needs and future challenges. It is yet another step in realizing the Qatar National Vision 2030 through achieving sustainable development by ensuring the optimization of Qatar’s natural resources.”

“The successful delivery and efficient operation of Laffan Refinery 1 – and a host of other major projects -has proved that Qatargas has the infrastructure, leadership and expertise to lead the world in projects of this kind,” he added.

Salman Ashkanani, Qatargas Refinery Ventures chief operating officer, delivered a keynote speech titled “Laffan Refinery – Driving Sustainability Through Diversification”.

“Laffan Refinery 1 along with Laffan Refinery 2 project, which is the second condensate refinery  being constructed  in Qatar, will double the current condensate refining capacity to about 300,000 barrels per day confirming its position as the largest condensate Refinery in the world,” he said. – TradeArabia News Service
