Senior officials with employees who were recognised

Bapco honours key safety leaders

MANAMA, January 13, 2015

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has recognised 30 employees across functions as 'Active Observers' for their role in the company's BOOST (Behaviour Observation Obtains Safe Trends) programme.

The employees were noted for active observation, number and quality of it and for their role in spreading awareness on the importance of the programme, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The BOOST programme is currently going through a development process which includes the simplification of the process, training and redefinition of accountabilities.

Behaviour observation is a globally recognised process for drastically reducing incidents and injuries resulting from human behaviour, which has been recognised as the root cause in a majority of investigations.

The recognition ceremony was attended by Bapco chief executive Dr Pete Bartlett, deputy chief executive (for refining and marketing) and chairman of the environment, health and safety committee Ebrahim Talib apart from other officials.

The BOOST programme enables employees to correct unsafe behaviour and monitor unsafe areas in order to eliminate accidents and encourage the use of Bapco's '4 Keys to Safety' and 'OSOOL Bapco' practices.

The programme applies to all Bapco staff and contractor employees as well as employees of any other authority that functions within the facilities of Bapco. - TradeArabia News Service
