Bapco’s refinery lab gets key Chevron honour

MANAMA, July 29, 2015

Bahrain Petroleum Company’s (Bapco) Technical Services Department (TSD) Refinery Laboratory has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by Chevron Global Lubricants as part of a worldwide crosscheck testing programme, it announced.

The Chevron proficiency testing programme is a process by which the performance of Bapco’s Refinery Laboratory and that of other petroleum products testing laboratories around the world, is assessed by comparing the results of tests done by the individual laboratories on a common sample of an oil product, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

“The certification is the result of the laboratory’s outstanding performance in the testing of a sample of automatic transmission fluid in March,” said Bapco general manager for refining Hafedh Al Qassab.

“A total of 100 laboratories were registered, with 64 laboratories participating in the testing process, of which the Bapco laboratory has the distinction of being the only participant to have successfully met all criteria and be awarded the certificate of merit,” he said.

It was also noted that the Bapco Refinery Laboratory performed extremely well in the crosscheck programme, and achieved top ranking in six out of nine tests carried out.

Bapco’s acting deputy chief executive for refining and marketing Khalid Al Sabbagh said the achievement was commendable. - TradeArabia News Service
