Samsung wins $2.46bn Qatar power plant deal

Samsung C&T Corp, South Korea's No 1 builder, has won a 2.87 trillion won ($2.46 billion) contract to build a power plant in Qatar, a report said.
The contract calls for the construction of a combined thermal power plant with a capacity of 2,520 MW, about 15 km from Qatari capital Doha, Yonhap news agency said quoting from Samsung C&T's regulatory filing.
The project, also known as Facility D and developed by Umm Al Houl Power, is part of a major integrated water and power project.
The plant will include a desalination plant with capacity of 130 m gallons a day.
The project is expected to be completed by June 2018.
