Adnoc shuts gown RFCC unit at Ruwais refinery

DUBAI, August 6, 2015

State-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Co shut down a secondary unit at its newly expended Ruwais refinery last week, industry sources said on Thursday, adding they expect the unit to remain down for a few more weeks.

The shutdown of the 127,000 barrel-per-day residual fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) was not due to planned maintenance, an industry source familiar with the matter said.

One Gulf-based trading source said he expected the shutdown to last for at least 2-3 weeks while another source estimated it would be longer.

Adnoc has offered a large volume of straight-run fuel oil and Murban crude for this month and next, because of issues with its RFCC unit, traders said on Wednesday.

Adnoc officials could not be reached for immediate comment. – Reuters
