Opec ... no proposal for an emergency meeting

Opec says no emergency meeting on oil price drop

LONDON, August 10, 2015

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) has no plan to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the drop in oil prices before its next scheduled gathering in December, two Opec delegates said.

Earlier, Algerian Energy Minister Salah Khebri was reported by state news agency APS as saying discussions about holding such a meeting were ongoing.

"There is no proposal for an emergency meeting," one of the Opec delegates said. The second delegate said there was no prospect of a meeting before the early December gathering.

"Consultations are ongoing to take a decision," APS cited Khebri as saying, when asked about a possible Opec extraordinary meeting. He did not give further details.
