US to receive first Oman oil cargo in three years

SINGAPORE, April 4, 2016

The US will receive this week its first import of Omani crude in three years after a strengthening in US crude prices against benchmarks in other regions attracted arbitrage supplies, Thomson Reuters Trade Flow data showed.

The 2-million-barrel cargo onboard supertanker Bunga Kasturi Dua arrived at the Pacific Lightering Area 2 in the US West Coast and is preparing to discharge oil, the data showed. Trade sources said in January that US refiner Koch may have arranged for the shipment.

The cargo will add to a wave of supplies that have arrived from Africa and Europe after US crude prices  firmed against Brent just weeks following Washington's move to repeal a decades-old law banning oil exports.
