Idea elects new board of directors

Members of the International District Energy Association (Idea) have elected Tim Griffin of RMF Engineering to chair its board of directors. 
 
Griffin was among 11 officers and members elected to the board at Idea’s annual business meeting during the association’s 107th annual conference and trade show, Idea said in a statement.
 
Other officers elected include vice chair Chris Lyons of Solar Turbines, second vice chair Jim Lodge of NRG Energy, secretary/treasurer James Adams of the University of Michigan, and immediate past chair Bruce Ander of Markham District Energy.  All officers were elected to one-year terms.
 
“I am delighted with the election of such a talented and committed group of energy leaders as officers of the Idea board,” Idea president and CEO Rob Thornton said. “Drawing on their diverse experience, and with their fellow board members, I am confident they will ensure that Idea continues to lead and innovate in the burgeoning clean energy space. I look forward to our important work together in the year ahead.”
 
Elected to three-year terms on the board of directors were: Nina Axelson of Ever-Green Energy; Ahmad Bin Shafar of Empower; Richard Damecour of FVB Energy; Henry Johnstone of GLHN; Tom Nyquist of Princeton University; and Christopher Potter of Architect of the Capitol. The Idea membership elected Bin Shafar, Damecour and Potter to their second consecutive three-year terms.  
 
The 107th annual Idea conference and trade show is taking place at the St Paul River Centre, in St Paul, Minnesota, US from June 20 to 23.  
 
The International District Energy Association (IDEA) is a nonprofit trade association founded in 1909 to facilitate the exchange of information among district energy professionals. IDEA works actively to foster the success of members as leaders in providing reliable, economical, efficient and environmentally sound district heating, district cooling and cogeneration (also known as combined heat and power or CHP) services.
