Dewa wins key project management certification

DUBAI, September 18, 2016

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) said it has received the fifth edition of the Project Management Professional certification after meeting all the rigorous quality and effectiveness standards defined by PMI (Project Management Institute).

This supports Dewa’s ongoing commitment to learning in line with achieving the UAE Vision 2021, to transform the UAE into one of the best countries in the world by 2021, said a statement from Dewa.

The renewed certification reflects Dewa’s ability to provide its employees, with world-class training and educational programmes that will enhance the efficiency of development projects, by adopting advanced principles of project management.

To earn the registered education providers designation, a provider must meet or exceed rigorous standards for quality and effectiveness as defined by PMI.

Lauding the employees, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and chief executive, said: "Dewa has adopted a clear strategy to enhance innovation among its employees in all its divisions. It works to enhance, and deepen the awareness of its staff to improve their skills, and train them to adhere to best practices."

"Dewa has taken great steps to train its employees, by providing innovative programmes and special training courses for all its divisions and departments, giving employees the opportunity to become accustomed to the latest business and innovation updates."

"This efficiently improves their skills and their professionalism. Dewa is proud of the achievements made by its employees, who effectively improve productivity and efficiency in their work and careers," he added.

Al Tayer pointed out that as a result of PMI, Dewa will improve, and achieve its goals and projects locally and internationally.

The utility firm will be able to achieve savings on training budgets by providing training courses internally with the same international credits.

The achievement enables Dewa to customise project management trainings as per PMI standards and  with less dependency on external training providers.

PMI’s credentials will aid Dewa’s project management team, allowing them to become certified in the categories of Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), PMI Professional in Business Analysis, PMI's Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), and Projects Planning and Scheduling Standards (PSP).-TradeArabia News Service
