Bahrain to host major oil technology summit

MANAMA, October 17, 2016

Oil refiners from across the region and Africa will discuss optimum technical solutions for the future of residue upgrading in refineries at an upcoming high level technology conference in Bahrain.

The third Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference (BBTC) and exhibition will take place on October 26 & 27 under the patronage of HRH Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Oil.

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) is the strategic partner for the event.

Hafedh Al-Qassab, general manager Refining at Bapco said: “We are pleased to support BBTC as it is held in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time.  This forum is important for our industry, and for Bapco, as we try and squeeze more value out of each barrel of crude, and there is a lot of focus on improving profitability through upgrade of bottom of the barrel into white products.”

The National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) said: “The BBTC Middle East & Africa 2016, which brings together the best of scientific advances in the field of bottom of the barrel technology through this specialist oil industry event and within reach of professionals in the region while providing networking opportunities among peers.”

Stefan Chapman, vice president of the organising company Euro Petroleum Consultants, said: “We are honoured and grateful for the backing and support BBTC has received in Bahrain especially from Bapco and the National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga).
