TechnipFMC JV to start work on Bapco project jetty

MANAMA, May 24, 2020

Technip FMC, a global leader in energy projects, said the TTSJV (its joint venture with Spanish contracting firm Technicas Reunidas and Korea's Samsung Engineering) is set to start work on the construction of the temporary jetty for $5-billion Bapco Modernisation Programme (BMP) located north west of Sitra region of Bahrain.

BMP's primary aim is to expand the capacity of the existing Sitra oil refinery from 267,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 360,000 bpd for Bapco, a leading oil and gas company in Bahrain and a major contributor to the region's energy-related activities.

The modernisation would also improve energy efficiency and allow valorisation of the heavy part of the crude oil barrel (bottom of the barrel), enhancing products and meeting environmental compliance.

The BMP will be executed on lump-sum turnkey basis and includes the following: residue hydrocracking unit, hydrocracker unit, hydro desulphurisation unit, crude distillation unit, vacuum distillation unit, saturated gas plant, hydrogen production unit, hydrogen recovery unit, sulphur recovery unit, tail gas treatment unit, sour water stripper unit, amine recovery unit, bulk acid gas removal unit, sulphur solidification unit and sulphur handling facilities.

The scope of work includes marine vessel movement, excavation activities, lifting operation and installation of silt screen curtains, stated TTSJV in its notification.

These offshore construction works will continue untill September, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
