Spring sculpture

, May 18, 2013

Oleh Ilnytzkyj, from Edmonton, Canada, photographs "Spring," one of the four 15-foot-high (4.6 metres) fiberglass busts of human heads by artist Philip Haas that are on display in the courtyard of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory of the New York Botanical Garden in The Bronx, New York. Haas was inspired by the "Four Seasons" portraits of 16th century Italian Renaissance painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo to create the sculptures (L to R) that represent Spring, Autumn, Winter and Summer. Their features are made of faux vegetation including nuts, grapes, fruit, flowers, bark, and twigs. Reuters/Ray Stubblebine
