Path to freedom
, January 28, 2016
Migrants walk on a muddy path on their way from Macedonia to a temporary camp for migrants in the village of Miratovac, on the border between Serbia and Macedonia, near to the south Serbian city of Presevo, on January 27.
Migrants of various nationalities but mainly from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, gather at the camp in the South of Serbia where they get a meal, necessary clothes such as gloves, boots and socks and have their papers confirmed to be allowed to continue their journey by train or bus. International aid agencies said on January 26 that they require $550 million to help migrants and refugees in southern Europe this year, with more than half of the sum needed in Greece, where fear and anger grow over the escalating crisis.
