IWC watches to tick at Jewellery Arabia

Manama, November 8, 2007

IWC Schaffhausen will participate in this year’s Jewellery Arabia exhibition from November 13 to 17 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).

Widely regarded as the largest and most prestigious jewellery and watch exhibition in the Middle East, Jewellery Arabia 2007 is the 16th show in the series and will feature the latest in high quality diamond and precious metal collections, as well as luxury timepieces from jewellery houses and watch manufacturers from around the world, the company said in a statement.

“We are extremely pleased to participate in the region’s largest jewellery and watch fair,” says IWC regional manager Gianfranco D’Attis.

“IWC Schaffhausen already has a strong presence across the Gulf, with established boutiques and point of sales throughout the region,” he added.

“Over the past few years, we have progressively built on our brand’s reputation. Consumer awareness about the high quality of our timepieces is certainly spreading throughout the region, which explains why this year we are bringing more complicated watches from our collection such as the Portuguese Minute Repeater,” he said.

Last year’s Jewellery Arabia exhibition covered the entire 16,000 sq m of available space at the BIEC, with two temporary structures having to be built to accommodate additional exhibitors. The show attracted an all time record number of 40,113 jewellery trade buyers and private collectors during the course of the 5 days.

Speaking on behalf of Asia Jewellers, IWC’s local partners in Bahrain, Mahmood Jaffar said: “IWC has a strong presence at the world’s leading watch fairs, Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva and we are aiming to create a strong impression at Jewellery Arabia the region’s largest trade fair by launching the Da Vinci collection.”

IWC Schaffhausen is the only mechanical watch producer based in the east of Switzerland and was founded in 1868. The company is probably best known for its Pilot’s range of watches and is a fully integrated manufacturer, creating and assembling all its own movements, parts and watches under one roof. IWC continues to contribute significant technical advancements in the world of watchmaking, including anti-gravity and anti-magnetic movements, according to the company

Leading impulses for the mechanical watch are manufactured by IWC. With its 390 employees, the company manufactures these “sought-after timepieces.” Since 2000, IWC has belonged to the watch division of Richemont.  – TradeArabia  News Service
