LG to launch new TV range in 2008

Amman, January 15, 2008

LG Electronics (LG), a major player in the global flat panel display market, will introduce in 2008 new televisions that are differentiated by their technological superiority and unique customer-driven designs.

During a media conference held at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, CEO LG’s Digital Display Company Simon Kang said that LG plans to become one of the top three global TV makers in 2008.

This success, he said, will be based on new LCD and plasma TVs with innovative designs and upgraded features as well as more aggressive marketing.

“I am proud to introduce our new flagship flat panel TVs, the LG60 LCD TV and PG60 plasma TV,” said general manager of the LGE Amman Branch Kevin Cha.

“These models are based around insight from our customers. They strike an ideal balance between design and technology, with each complementing the other. These two TVs will reinforce our premium marketing messages. LG will change the landscape of the flat panel TV industry by presenting exceptional products, which offer more than consumers basically expected,” he added.

Of these 17 million TVs, 14 million will be LCD models and three million will be plasma models. To achieve its ambitious sales goal in 2008, LG will concentrate on product leadership, profitability and stronger marketing.

Built around 120 Hz Full HD LCD panel, the LG60 provides incredibly smooth pictures quality, even with fast moving action in movies, sports and games.

LG60 adds drama to daily TV watching by offering multi-sensorial pleasure. While subtle red light comes from around the black edges of the TV, a hole in the base of the TV is surrounded by LED lights that give viewers a subtle indication of the TV’s status. And magic sound generates when the TV is turned on.

Meanwhile, an Intelligent Sensor automatically adjusts the TV’s brightness according to available light, offering optimized picture quality and reducing power consumption by 50 percent.
