H&M opens first store in Egypt

Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), the international fashion retailer, on Wednesday announced plans to open its first outlet in Egypt.
The store will be open on June 5 in Cairo’s exclusive Stars Center mall in the new Citystars development.
The expansion of the trendy high street brand is a result of H&M’s strategic partnership with M.H. Alshaya, one of the Middle East’s leading retailers, said a company official.
“We are excited to introduce H&M to the Egyptian market. We believe the brand will rapidly become a popular choice as it has done in other parts of the region," said Mohammed Al Shaya, chairman of MH Alshaya Company.
"The wide assortment on offer coupled with the introduction of new garments into the store everyday will be something unique in Cairo and will enhance shopper’s experience”, he added.
“The new H&M store at Stars Centre will cover an impressive 3,500 sq m, spreading over two floors.” said Jazz Hayer, business director, H&M Middle East.
The fashion retailer will showcase its newest collections including the spring/summer collection. The collection is inspired by new production possibilities and materials that allow for a better function, comfort and fit.
These developments have motivated the design team at H&M to create a spring collection of classic favourites, updated and refined with new materials and cuts, and with clothes and accessories enthused by the Orient, Asia and Africa.
"Choose from tailored looks such as the suite and shirt and fine-knit classics such as the cardigan, the slipover the V-neck. Alternatively, update your look with retro couture or with simply minimal and well cut perfect details," she added.
The collection is also inspired by a mix of Oriental, Asian and African designs to create a modern ethnic look.
1920’s oriental patterns and embellished shirts, tunics and dresses worn with harem pants or linen and khaki separates complete the look and combines fashion history and global street style from all over the world in a single trend.
"Shoppers will be spoilt for choice as they choose from an unparalleled selection of accessories including turbans, straw hats, couture scarves, obi belts, wood jewellery, sandals, ballerinas and Mary Janes to name but a few," Hayer noted.
"The men’s collection is just as varied and offers caps, line scarves, hankies, canvas bags, sunglasses, canvas belts, leather belts, sneakers, sandals, lace-ups and loafers, he added.
Also available will be H&M’s organic collection which utilizes more than 1,500 tons of cotton and features colours and designs inspired by the 60’s and 70’s.
Founded in 1947, there are over 1,500 H&M stores in 28 countries, is synonymous around the world with affordable, up to date and high quality fashion. The company’s collections are created by more than 100 in-house designers.-TradeArabia News Service
