A study has revealed that 72 per cent of buyers have given a satisfied or very satisfied rating of their shopping experience in consumer electronics retail outlets in the GCC region, a report said.
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) conducted the analysis, while the Dubai-based Maktoob Research collected the data through an online survey, according to the Gulf News report.
The data also found that one in four shoppers who left the shop was not completely satisfied with some aspect of the shopping experience.
Nowadays, consumers are more well-informed, and before buying a product, even though they equip themselves with more information and go by advice from others, they still look for guidance from the sales staff at the store.
So knowledgeable and well-trained sales staff is the most important requisite for any store, especially consumer electronics stores, the study said.
In the study, GCC consumers came up with a number of areas where they felt the need for improvements, but two points stand out - 'more and better information on product manufacturer websites and 'more and better information tailored to one's culture'.
'UAE shoppers use in-store information sources at the highest rates compared to the other countries. They seek simple and prompt information from all sources and that information needs to be tailored to one's culture,' according to the study.
The consumer electronics market is set to gain amid the economic crisis which is forcing people to spend less on vacations and better home comforts, including home entertainment.
