Al Ghurair named chief of DSMG

Majid Saif Al Ghurair has been named the chairman of the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG).
The DSMG has introduced changes into its organisational structure to enhance marketing initiatives and provide better quality services to maintain the pioneering position of Dubai as the region’s major retail and shopping hub.
The changes were made under the patronage of chairman of Dubai Airports, chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group and chairman of the Dubai Shopping Festival Office (DSFO) Supreme Committee Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
“The retail sector is a major driving force behind the distinguished trade position that Dubai now holds. Since its establishment in 1998, the DSMG has been keen to combine all its efforts and initiatives to enhancing the competitive edge of the emirate not only on a regional level but globally as well,” said Al Ghurair.
“In the coming months, DSMG is set to work within a well-integrated strategy based on synergizing all efforts in order to achieve its goals.”
The coming period entails maximised efforts to maintain the gains attained in the past and secure further momentum for the retail trade sector, added Al Ghurair. He expressed his appreciation for Eesa Adam and his colossal efforts during his chairmanship of the DSMG, accentuating the group’s intention to continue to benefit from the vast experience of previous members like Eesa himself.
The DSMG’s board of directors includes ex-chairman and general manager of BurJuman and Reef Mall Eesa Adam Ibrahim; senior general manager - Retail at Dubai Festival City - Tom Miles; managing director, Nakheel Shopping Malls Group, David Thurling; vice-president, Divisional Asset Management for MAF Properties, Fared Abdul Rahman; CEO of Emaar Malls Group Jim Badour; internal affairs and marketing manger at Wafi Abdullah Ibrahim bin Hussein and CEO of DSF Office Laila Suhail.
The 37-memebr DSMG was established in 1998 to support the Dubai Summer Surprises in its inaugural edition. Since then, the DSMG has been working to synergize marketing initiatives and provide better quality services to visiting shoppers in the emirate’s malls. – TradeArabia News Service
