Jumbo bids to upswing consumer spending

Jumbo Electronics, a leading retailer in the UAE, has invested more than Dh3 million ($817,000) across a range of product offers in an attempt to upswing consumer spending at the ongoing Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).
The 15th edition of DSF, the region’s premiere retail, leisure and entertainment extravaganza, opened on January 28 to run for 32 days.
As a key sponsor of the event, Jumbo has seized the opportunity to work with leading Dubai governmental and private organisations to make this year’s festival a turning point economically, encouraging nascent consumer confidence to return to the buoyant levels seen in previous years, a statement said.
“Dubai Shopping Festival has become an event which UAE residents mark in their diaries, and shoppers from around the region travel to attend,” said JP Nambiar, head of retail, Jumbo.
“We were keen to reflect this excitement in the wide range of promotions that we put together for DSF 2010. With an overall investment of over Dh3 million, we are making a clear statement to the community that we are committed to offering them the best deals, the most exciting and value packed bundles, and some great in-store activities,” he added.
Sponsors of the event since its inception, Jumbo has worked with DSF for 15 years to create offers that deliver value to customers based in the UAE, and attract interest from eager shoppers looking to visit the Emirates during this exciting period.

The investment of Dh3 million is spread across product offers during the Dubai Shopping Festival.
Also on offer from Jumbo during DSF are raffles and scratch & win. Every day, Jumbo customers spending over Dh300 will receive a raffle coupon that will enter them in to a draw to win gold coins.
