Jacky’s launches cellphone exchange offer

Dubai, September 20, 2010

Jacky’s Electronics, the UAE’s leading multi-brand consumer electronics retailer, has launched its latest service offering, ‘Eco-Exchange: Recycling that pays’, to help in the proper disposal of electronic products.

For its initial running, Jacky’s will accept old mobile phones for which customers will then receive a cash voucher for their future purchases. With the Eco-Exchange scheme, all customers also have the option to trade devices in whatever brand or condition, allowing them to frequently buy latest devices and keep up with fast changing technology.

“Being ‘Green’ is not a CSR activity or a PR exercise but a responsibility we shoulder as a part of the community. As an electronic retailer, we would like to ensure that electronic products are disposed properly without any harmful effects to our environment,” said Ashish Panjabi, chief operating officer, Jacky’s Group of Companies.

“This initiative is in partnership with a leading organisation specialised in electronics recycling. All devices, which we receive, are 100 per cent reused or recycled to the highest industry standards through a strict zero landfill policy. This means that no mobile or any parts or accessories such as batteries will be placed in a landfill that pollutes the environment for generations to come,” he added.

Jacky’s Electronics accepts up to five mobile phones in a single transaction. The company also offer bulk recycling for larger quantities of mobile phones.

“We are also offering value for non-working mobile phones, and if no value is available, we will still recycle them free of charge. This beats having a stack full of phones in your drawer that don’t work or which you don’t know what to do with,” Panjabi said.

Customers can bring their mobile phones to all Jacky’s outlets across the UAE.-TradeArabia News Service
