Dubai, April 6, 2011
Sony Ericsson has announced the Middle East launch of the new Xperia arc, the first of a new generation of Android 2.3 smartphones that incorporate the latest Sony technology.
Launched internationally earlier this year, the super light Xperia arc is 8.7 mm at its thinnest part and weighs 117 grams.
Sporting a 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU and a 4.2-inch multi-touch screen (reality display with Mobile Bravia Engine), the sleek smartphone is ergonomically designed to perfectly fit into the user's hand.
Crafted with a type of mineral glass that is used for making watch crystals, the smartphone is scratch and shatter-resistant.
Ruediger Odenbach, general manager, Sony Ericsson Middle East, said: “We are beginning this year on a confident note by introducing our most exciting Xperia product yet. Xperia arc combines state-of-the-art Sony technology with a breathtaking design to wow consumers. In addition, the product gets its additional appeal as it blends Sony’s new technology on the latest Android platform.”
Sony's award-winning Exmor R for mobile sensor with the f/2.4 lens enables the capture of high-quality, bright pictures and HD videos even in low light, a statement said.
All pictures and videos can be shared in HD on any TV via the built in HDMI-connector. The Xperia arc camera also offers a series of capabilities that include auto focus, face detection, LED flash, image stabilizer, geo tagging and noise suppression.
The smartphone features a 3.5 mm audio jack, in addition to HDMI, USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. The device also supports A-GPS and DLNA as well as memory card (micro USD) with capacity up to 32 GB.
Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, which allows the user to access more than 150,000 free applications and get the best time with the gaming-power rich multimedia, the Xperia arc also offers access to Google Mobile Services and enables users to stay connected with friends through messaging and social networking integration. – TradeArabia News Service
