Doha, December 10, 2011
Lagoona, Darwish Malls’ latest development and Qatar’s leading retail and lifestyle scene, has opened the doors of its second wave of exciting brands and cafés.
The latest range of fashion and coffee shops that Lagoona has attracted includes many firsts for Qatar and joins its very own anchor tenant, Fifty One East, the largest multi-brand store in the Middle East, said a senior official.
Eamon Kelly, general manager of Lagoona, said: 'We're delighted to see the second wave of amazing stores opening at Lagoona, where the retail experience builds expectation and anticipation, as new phases take shape. Lagoona targets savvy customers looking for a whole gamut of retailers delivering on their promise of star quality goods in their specialist sector.'
'Customers have come to enjoy Lagoona's rare proposition of high quality interior design, where even the conveniences would easily grace a 5 star hotel. Those in the know about the latest trends in food and fashion will welcome the second line-up of boutiques and culinary outlets that are open as many other brands and eateries plan to follow in 2012,' Kelly noted.
Among these is the very first ‘Carrefour Market’ in Doha, the Carrefour Express Trademark, which was thronged by nearby residents when it opened and sold out of milk and bread in a matter of hours before hastily re-stocking, said the official.

Franck Rouquet, vice president Carrefour Supermarkets in Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and the UAE, said Carrefour Market is offering much more than basic products.
“The Carrefour Market-model is already well-established internationally, and we saw an opportunity to introduce it to Qatar, which is a country with sophisticated and cosmopolitan consumers as well as huge growth potential.
'Our Carrefour Market supermarket in Lagoona Mall Qatar is designed to be more than just a convenience grocery. It is a destination for fresh food centering on high-quality produce, with butchers and fishmongers on hand and daily deliveries straight to the supermarket shelves.'
'With our customer demographic constantly changing and evolving along with their requirements from a local supermarket, we see Carrefour Market as a welcome addition to Qatar, and we are delighted to be part of the ambitious Lagoona Mall project.”
