70 malls join Dubai Shopping Festival
Dubai, December 29, 2011
A total of up to 70 malls and 6000 shops throughout Dubai will take part in the upcoming 16th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) with promotional offers and discounts of up to 75 per cent.
Under the 2012 theme ‘Dubai at its Best’, DSF 2012 will run from January 5 to February 5, offering more than Dh100 million ($27.2 million) worth of raffles and prizes up for grabs including luxury cars, gold and cash, and more than 150 indoor and outdoor events.
The 32-day festival will include local and international sporting, theatrical and musical events, street carnivals, night souks, art exhibitions, fashion shows and culture and heritage activities.
As the date for the event draws closer, shoppers in Mall of the Emirates are in great anticipation of the promotions, discounts and events of this biggest shopping festivity in the region, said organisers Dubai Events & Promotional Establishment (Depe).
Farsana Salim, a tourist from India who came with her cousins Rameese Raja and Asif Khan, found herself rushing to the malls during their first two days in Dubai.
She said, “The shopping experience in Dubai is extraordinary. There are so many stores to choose from, and the famous brands have boutiques here. And we are lucky that we will still be here on the opening of Dubai Shopping Festival. We have heard great stories about it, and we are expecting the same wonderful experience.”
A visiting family from Egypt –Khaled El Kekhia with her daughters Laila, Shaima, Fareeda and Mariam – were also having a great time in their shopping. According to Laila, “The shops in Dubai are very helpful because it is easy to find the things we want. Our family always comes here during DSF. I think the festival helps in getting the attention of the people to visit Dubai.”
Tourists from London, Tomin Erinosho, Abi Erinosho and Tosin Ayanleye, who celebrated their holidays in Dubai, all agreed in saying that they had the best time in this emirate and shopping is one of their most enjoyable experiences.
“Every year, we send big boxes of goodies to our loved ones in the Philippines. That is why we take advantage of the good discounts during DSF. It is really helpful and practical for us. We look forward to the raffle draws as well. Personally, I think that makes shopping more exciting, knowing that your purchase can lead you to win better things,” said RB Quizon, a Filipina retail employee.
Younger audiences, who are always on the look for affordable fashion, seemed to be really excited about DSF.
Angela De Joode shared, “I plan to update my wardrobe every DSF. There are so many great deals that I can’t help myself but do a lot of shopping.”
Her friend Acalea Watfa (from Lebanon, Palestine and Italy), commented, “I already have lots of clothes, shoes and bags, but whenever it’s DSF, I just have to shop. There is no better time to grab designer goods. DSF is such a great friend for shopaholics like us.” – TradeArabia News Service
