WD to showcase range at Gitex Shopper

Dubai, September 27, 2012

WD, a subsidiary of Western Digital, will showcase a range of devices to seamlessly stream, store and share high definition digital content at the upcoming Gitex Shopper, a consumer electronics show, in Dubai.

The ‘Connected Life’ product portfolio now includes the recently introduced home-aimed WD My Net routers, the launch of which marked WD’s entry into the home router market.

The Connected Life product ecosystem now comprises the My Book Live range of personal cloud drives, the WD TV Live range of media players, as well as the My Net router series consisting of the HD dual-band My Net N600, My Net N750, My Net N900 and My Net N900 Central.

“The preferences for managing and consuming digital content have changed rapidly in the region and around the world. Our Connected Life range offers consumers a way to effectively address the need for a seamless and high-quality entertainment experience,” said Khalid Wani, WD’s sales director India, Middle East and Africa.

“Our range of products also allows consumers to access and manage content from multiple consumption sources (tablets, PCs etc.) on a single, central location. The powerful yet easy-to-use products of the Connected Life range redefine the way in which content is accessed, stored and utilised.”

With the My Net family of powerful and easy-to-use wireless home networking products, WD debuts its exclusive FasTrack technology. The technology instantly detects and prioritizes data streams that are meant to occur in realtime with minimal lag, such as YouTube video streams or gaming traffic, versus network traffic that is not a realtime concern for consumers, such as downloads.

By using real-time analysis to maximize bandwidth for entertainment services, the My Net routers provide a premium entertainment experience on any screen in the home that is connected to the router.

In addition to offering free Wi-Fi access and a café for visitors on-stand, WD’s Demo-zones will give visitors a chance to experience each of the Connected Life products individually, and in tandem, with their counterparts. Consumers will be able to make instant purchases at the stand. Products will also be available at WD’s retail partners present at Shopper.

Experts from WD will also conduct ‘Tech-Talk’ sessions on the hour to educate consumers on the company’s various cutting edge products and their most potent features.

This year visitors who purchase any WD product - from the stand or at any of the retail outlets - can look forward to exciting promotions and prizes such as the high-end WD My Net N900 Central router, WD TV Live Hub media player, LED TVs, phones, tablets and much more. A mega prize consisting of a complete Connected Life package, will also be given away on the last day.

Gitex Shopper 2012 will run from September 29 to October 6 at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.– TradeArabia News Service
