Toshiba launches new notebook PC

Dubai, January 31, 2013

Toshiba Gulf has announced the Middle East launch of the industry’s first notebook PC to integrate a 1 terabyte (TB) 2.5” high capacity hybrid drive, the Qosmio X870.

The 2.5-inch (6.4 cm) hybrid drive provides fast solid state drive (SSD)-like performance with the high capacity of a hard disk drive (HDD). It will be available in solid state hybrid 8G drive with 1TB, combined with 8GB of Nand flash, making it ideal for the Qosmio X870 to deliver high performance, a statement from the company said.

Powered by the Intel Quad Core processor, the X870 delivers incredible performance and vibrant visuals boosted by Nvidia GeForce GTX 670M  with Cuda Technology.

“Toshiba’s Qosmio X870 is an extremely powerful machine that delivers impressive performance to advance users and gamers looking to conveniently work on graphics-intensive software and enjoy cutting edge PC games anytime, anywhere,” said Santosh Varghese, general manager, computer systems division, Toshiba Gulf.

A hybrid drive combines the dual platter magnetic storage of an HDD with Nand cache. The HDD platters provide high capacity storage and the integration of NAND flash increases the read/write speeds, enhancing the overall performance of the Qosmio X870.

As a result, the Qosmio X870 not only delivers approximately three times faster read and write times than those of its current model but also reduces the applications’ boot time, the statement said.

Loaded with Genuine Windows 8, the X870 is equipped with up to 32GB RAM and ultra speedy hybrid hard drive options that allows for up to 2TB of on-board storage. It also features high-speed connectivity with gigabit Ethernet and wireless capabilities for faster upload/download, LAN gaming and faster transfer speeds with its USB 3.0 ports.

It comes with a 3D-enabled Full HD 43.9cm (17.3-inch) display supporting the latest Nvidia 3D Vision active shutter glasses. Equipped with a four harman/kardon stereo speakers supported by Slipstream port technology, the ultimate gaming laptop allows the bass to achieve high outputs with low distortion for a more vibrant audio experience. The X870 also comes with SRS premium sound 3D audio enhancement application for a sharper sound.

The X870’s Sleep & Music feature allows the customer to use the laptop as an MP3 player dock to enjoy music even when powered down.

The X870 is finished with a textured red and dark silver metallic aluminum casing, black widow styling, 17.3” diagonal, HD, TruBrite 3D display, fiery back-lit keyboard and logo. – TradeArabia News Service
