Marks & Spencer opens store in Beirut

Beirut, July 4, 2013

British retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has opened its new store at the Beirut City Centre shopping mall, its first store in Lebanon.

The new 1,800 sq m store is operated by M&S’s franchise partner Al Futtaim Group and features an extensive range of clothing, accessories, footwear and beauty products, said a statement.

Paul Khawaja, commercial attaché at the British Embassy, said: “Having a flagship brand like M&S in Beirut is great news, for Lebanon and for Britain. British companies are at the heart of Beirut’s retail boom, generating confidence here and jobs in the UK.”

John Cooper, managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be entering the Lebanese market for the first time, as we bring the British brand, Marks & Spencer to shoppers in Beirut. Al Futtaim Group is focussed on ensuring we offer customers quality fashion and the best shopping experience.” – TradeArabia News Service
