Al Meera to build 7 new malls in Qatar

Al Meera Consumer Goods Company, a leading retail chain in Qatar, has signed a blanket agreement with two leading construction groups Al-Aliaa Trading and Contracting Company (ATC) and Al-Muftah Trading and Contracting Company to build seven new malls in the country.

Al Meera CEO Guy Sauvage joined Ayman Khaled Mahmoud, the managing director of ATC and Ibrahim A. Al-Muftah, the managing director of Al-Muftah to sign the agreement.

Al Meera officials including Ahmed El Gioshy, the projects director and Christopher Mottram, the director of assets & property management took part in the ceremony held at the retail chain's head office.

Mohammed Balaawi, ATC projects general manager and Kanada Mannangi, the manager of contracting division of Al-Muftah Company also took part besides.

As per the agreement, Al-Muftah will build three new stores for Al-Meera at Rawdat Ekdeem (on a land area of 10506 sq m), Al Azizia (3250 sqm) and Zakhira (8,375 sq m), while ATC will be responsible for the construction of the projects at Al Wajba (9,082 sq m), Muaither (4912 sq m), Al Wakra (10,673 sq m) and Al Thumama (7,403 sq m).

"We are pleased to sign this agreement with Al-Muftah and Al-Aliaa companies, the two leading companies in their field, to support our expansion plan.  The progress of Al Meera will benefit all in Qatar, shareholders and consumers," said Sauvage.

Qatar, he said, was and will remain the major market for the retail company.

"The goal of our expansion is to make everyone very close to Al Meera stores everywhere in Qatar before the end of next year. Al Meera will continue in rehabilitating its old branches and maintaining them to fully transfer to the new innovative concept. This new modern and contemporary concept is designed by international companies and will meet the Qatari market requirements," he added.

Ayman Khaled Mahmoud, the managing director of Al-Aliaa, lauded Al Meera's strategy to become the favourite neighborhood retailer in Qatar.

“Building new retail stores is very important to serve all areas in Qatar. Al Meera, within its expansion plan, will add branches to the various areas of Qatar to reach all consumers. We are really proud of this agreement and cooperation with Al Meera and we are happy to help serving the biggest number of consumers, locals and residents, in the country”.

Al-Muftah said the expansion of Al Meera in Qatar through modern and contemporary buildings reflects the ambition of the company in enhancing a new concept of shopping, suitable for all shoppers’ needs.
