Bahrain Duty Free profit hits $13.5m

Bahrain Duty Free Complex has reported net profit of BD5,106,190 ($13.5 million) for the nine months ended September 30, a report said.

This translates to earnings per share of 47.4 fils, according to the report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Net profit for the same period last year was BD5,119,839.

Chairman Farouk Almoayyed said the company's board of directors considers the performance outstanding which were achieved in spite of the difficulties and the challenges.

"The company is currently working on several projects in line with the strategy to provide high levels of efficiency and excellent services to travellers," managing director Abdulla Buhindi said.

"Work has started with the overhaul of duty free arrival shops at the Bahrain Inter-national Airport. After completion of the renovation, the official reopening is scheduled for January," he added.

Buhindi said in September, the company also moved its headquarters from the previous location in Juffair to a new location adjacent to the Bahrain International Airport, which is the base of core operations.
