Samsung Electronics Levant and BCI Group, its authorised distributor in Jordan, have launched the Galaxy S5, its latest smartphone, and the second generation of Gear devices.

The Galaxy S5 is designed keeping consumers’ needs in mind, to offer a refined experience with innovation of essential features for day-to-day use, and deliver new technologies exclusive to Samsung for smartphones, said a statement.

It includes Snapdragon processer 801 2.5GHz, the heartbeat monitor, the download booster for speedy download of any content or application, and the Ultra Power Saving Mode feature that offers up to 24 hours of battery life when the indicator reaches 10 per cent, it said.

Bumsuk Hong, president of Samsung Electronics Levant, said: “Today we launch the fifth generation of the Galaxy S smartphone series in the Jordanian market, and we are proud to announce that Jordan is one of the countries that will launch the Galaxy S5 before the global launch.”

“Samsung aims to elevate the smartphone experience, from its innovative performance technologies synchronised with our daily lives, its iconic design with essential and useful features, and its fast network connectivity, allowing the consumer to download and share content faster than ever, in addition to many more smart features,” he said.

The smartphone features a 16-megapixel camera with enhanced menu and user interface, autofocus speeds of up to 0.3 seconds, advanced high dynamic range (HDR) and new ‘Selective Focus’ feature which allows user to focus on a specific area of an object while simultaneously blurring out the background.

It supports the fifth generation Wi-Fi 802.11ac and 2X2 MIMO, and the large number of LTE frequency with LTE Category 4 standard. It features ‘Download Booster,’ a wifi technology for boosting data speed by bonding wifi and LTE, for consumers who seek a faster connection.

The enhanced S Health 3.0 will offer more tools to help people stay fit and well, including a personal fitness tracker, pedometer, diet and exercise records and a new, built-in heart rate monitor. Users can also pair it with the next generation Gear products for real-time fitness coaching.

Samsung has also launched three new additions to the Gear series: The Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit.

The Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo offer consumers enhanced connectivity and a completely integrated approach for a personal wearable experience.
