Canon launches high-performance desktop scanner

DUBAI, April 27, 2015

Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging solutions, has launched a high-performance workgroup scanner with capability to handle a wide range of documents including passports and other forms of identification.

The new compact and durable imageFormula DR-C240 is quiet to operate, making it suitable for a variety of corporate, back-office and customer-facing environments, said a statement.

It includes reception desks at banks, hotels, hospitals and government offices, which are often required to capture and process various documents including proof of identification.

The scanner will deliver powerful and high-performance scanning with speeds of up to 45ppm/90ipm and handle workloads of up to 4,000 scans per day.

With a 60-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) larger batches can be processed in one go.

The heavy duty feeder mechanism, ultrasonic double feed sensor and document feed release (DFR) technology ensure best in class reliability for scanning various document types including ultra-thin paper (from 27gsm) to passports up to 4mm thick, removing the need for a separate flatbed scanner.

Hendrik Verbrugghe, marketing director, Canon Middle East, said: “Our latest scanner has been created in response to customer feedback and demand making it a valuable addition to our imageFormula range. The market for decentralised scanning is expanding and we’re increasingly seeing demand from our customers for a compact yet high-performance desktop document scanners.

“The DR-C240 provides our customers the ability to scan a wider range of documents including passports using the standard document feeder, which allows Canon to better cater for a broader range of environments, from customer-facing scanning in banks or hotels to busy corporate departments.”

The imageFormula DR-C240 will include Canon’s intuitive scanning software CaptureOnTouch 3, which offers a simple operation for scanning documents into various file formats, and to multiple destinations including cloud services such as Sharepoint, DropBox Evernote, OneDrive, GoogleDrive, and Sugar Sync.

Canon’s CapturePerfect software will enable advanced processing features including automatic batch separation and zonal Optical Character Recognition (OCR).

The scanner will also come with Kofax VRS driver for enriched image quality and eCopy PDF Pro for powerful PDF creation, editing, and conversion tools. - TradeArabia News Service
