DUBAI, June 2, 2016

Nakheel, one of the world’s leading developers, said it has completed the enabling works for its new Dh2 billion ($544 million) Al Khail Avenue mall, a retail, dining and entertainment destination at Jumeirah Village Triangle in Dubai.

The company has also received bids for the main construction package, with seven proposals under assessment and a contract due to be awarded in around 45 days’ time.

The completed earthworks have left a 600,000 cu m hole that could accommodate 240 Olympic-sized swimming pools or 12 Airbus A380 aircraft, said a statement from Nakheel.

According to Nakheel, Al Khail Avenue will span nearly 200,000 sq m, with over 110,000 sq m of leasable space. There will be 350 shops, a multi-screen cinema, a wide range of cafes and restaurants and a multi-storey car park with 4,400 spaces, it stated.

More than 60 per cent of the shop space has been booked, with tenants including Waitrose, Reel Cinemas, Home Centre, Emax, Centrepoint, Sports One, Gap, Mamas & Papas, Armani Exchange, Banana Republic and more, said the Dubai developer.

The Al Khail Avenue will provide convenient shopping and entertainment for people in Jumeirah Village, Jumeirah Park and other nearby communities, and be a new destination for residents and tourists across Dubai and other emirates, it added.

Nakheel said its retail project portfolio is set to become the biggest in the UAE, with over 1.4 million sq m of leasable space either in operation or under development.-TradeArabia News Service
