Al Futtaim announces big Cairo mall expansion

Al Futtaim, a leading UAE diversified company, said its mall division has started work on a new 22,143-sq-m expansion project at its retail destination, Cairo Festival City Mall, which on completion will add several new luxury brands.

Spanning a land area of over 3 million sq m, Cairo Festival City is a visionary mixed-use urban community strategically located at the gateway to New Cairo city.

It sets new standards as Egypt’s premier indoor-outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment destination, providing spectacular residential villas and luxurious apartments, as well as prime office spaces, together with internationally renowned hotels, international schools and automotive showrooms all set within a beautifully landscaped and tranquil community.

The new area, called ‘Festival Avenue’, will bring a further 100 shops, including 60 retail stores which will offer numerous international and first to market brands, 20 new food and beverage outlets and two brand new entertainment concepts, providing an unparalleled shopping and lifestyle experience to New Cairo.

Festival Avenue will introduce several new luxury brands to truly elevate shoppers’ experience offering a range of products from watches, jewellery and men’s and women’s fashion, said the statement from Al Futtaim.

New much sought-after brands arriving as part of the expansion include big names such as Mont Blanc, Omega, Bvlgari, Zzegna, Versace CJ, EA Junior, Love Moschino, Le Collezione, Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, Cole Haan, Roberto Cavalli Sport, Red Valentino and Hackett.

For several of these brands, including Zzegna, Cole Haan, Red Valentino and Roberto Cavalli Sport, Cairo Festival City Mall will be bringing them to the Egypt market for the first time, it stated.

Strategically located, it is a 20 minutes drive from Cairo International Airport and 30 minutes from Cairo Tower. The mall serves a population of over 3.1 million in the primary and secondary trade areas, it added.
 
On the expansion, Al-Futtaim Malls Group Director Timothy Earnest said: "The retail sector in Egypt is witnessing huge growth and we want to further support its development. Festival Avenue will have 1,000 new parking spaces and a new-to-market 1,567 sq m food hall featuring outlets with both inside and outside terraces.

It features simple circulation patterns and seamless integration with the existing Mall including transport infrastructure. Strategically situated to the east of Cairo's Ring Road, Cairo Festival City is easily accessible to neighbourhoods such as Maadi, Helipolis and Nasr City.
