The point of sale (PoS) transactions in Bahrain in December 2020 totalled BD233.1 million compared to BD232.5 million in the same month of 2019, a 0.3 per cent increase, according to Central Bank of Bahrain data.

The PoS transactions were up 5.2% over November 2020 (BD221.5 million).

The total number of transactions recorded in December 2020 was 8.962 million, a 19.5% increase over December 2019 (7.498 million) and a 8% increase over November 2020 (8.296 million), it said.

Restaurants accounted for 2.267 million transactions; supermarkets for 1.940 million; department stores 656,052; and health facilities 608,208.

By value, government services accounted for the highest value in December with BD57.8 million, while supermarkets came second with BD23.6 million. - TradeArabia News Service
