E-Marine to unveil cable ship system at Gitex

E-Marine, a leader in submarine cable installation, maintenance and repair in the Middle East, said it will showcase the latest addition to its fleet, CS NIWA - a new world class remote operated vehicle system named CMROV280 – at the upcoming Gitex.

E-Marine will showcase its model at Etisalat’s exhibition area in the Zabeel Hall, as part of the Gulf Comms conference at Gitex which begins on October 19.

The visitors to the expo will be able to learn more about the capabilities of E-marines fleet and the ROV’s as well as the other unique features of E-Marine’s flagship cable layer – NIWA, said a top company official.

Omar Jassim Bin Kalban, managing director and CEO of E-Marine, said the installation of the new ROV system is a new milestone for its services in cable uplifting, maintenance, burial and inspection operations.

"Cable Ship NIWA is now a very well qualified vessel for operating in more sensitive deeper locations and providing upgraded services for telecom, oil and gas and other industries across the region," he explained.

The new system comes complete with state-of-the-art control cabin with all the equipments interfaced and viewed for controlling and piloting the ROV.

CS NIWA is now capable of undertaking all aspects of cable maintenance, seabed survey and cable burial work of long duration at water depth up to 2500 metres.

The CMROV is designed to perform detection and tracking of surface-laid and buried cable, cable burial depth determination and logging, cable and repeater burial.

Besides, it is also capable of visual inspection and recording of seabed cable and plant, manipulation of cable cutting and attachment of grippers and lift lines and debris clearance.

Earlier this year CS NIWA was upgraded to DP II, which allows it to perform surgical operations in very close proximity to oil and gas platforms also it will allow working in rough weather conditions.

DP II is a requirement for the installation, repair or maintenance of telecommunications and power cables in the oil fields in general and in the closest proximity to Oil & Gas platforms in particular.

The cable Ship NIWA is a module of completed Cable ship equipped with Plough, ROV, DP II capability and Cable Management system.

It has a gross tonnage of 13,201 tons with a cable uplift capacity of 6098 m/t and a speed of 15 knots. It can accommodate up to 138 Persons and can be at sea for a continuous period of 60 days, Kalban added.-TradeArabia News Service
