Hyatt Hotels to open three new Mideast properties

Dubai, December 31, 2007

Hyatt Hotels is setting a new standard in tourism and travel across the Middle East region for 2008 with the opening of three key properties.

They are: Grand Hyatt Doha, Park Hyatt Istanbul, and Park Hyatt Jeddah.

With nine Hyatt properties in full operation throughout the region, the opening of the additional three hotels will add over 400 rooms across three countries - positioning Hyatt as one of the leading hotel operators in the Middle East.

“Our continuous success in this region is based on a number of important factors, which include healthy regional economies and Hyatt’s ability to identify and support key tourism destinations for today and the future,” said area director of marketing – Middle East, Hyatt International Hotels and Resorts, Thierry Bertin.

“Our aim is to continue to develop our expansion plans in the Middle East, one of the fastest growing tourism destinations in the world, and offer our valued guests the highest standards of quality and service,” Bertin added.

Grand Hyatt Doha is set to open in spring 2008, followed by Park Hyatt Istanbul in the summer of 2008 and Park Hyatt Jeddah in late 2008.

The opening of Grand Hyatt Doha will mark Hyatt’s entry into the glittering world of 5-star hotels in the Gulf state. The hotel will blend the architectural themes of the ancient world with contemporary technology.

The central court, or atrium, is surrounded on two levels by lounges, restaurants and the lobby bar.  This space will be the hub of the hotel and the centre of activity.  Through the four-storey high windows there are spectacular views of the centre of Doha, the Pearl Island and the beach and gardens surrounding the hotel.

The bamboo garden, with its dancing fountain and dramatic crystal rain, is a feature of the central atrium.

The 90-room Park Hyatt Istanbul- Maçka Palas is ideally located in the fashionable Nişantaşi residential and shopping district. Maçka Palas, one of the finest buildings in the city, was built in 1922 by Italian architect Giulio Mongeri who was inspired by the elegant Palazzos of Milan where he graduated from the Architectural Academy. The stylish hotel will house 80 generously sized deluxe rooms and 10 suites.

Park Hyatt Jeddah, set to open in late 2008, will be the first exquisite boutique style hotel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As part of a stunning multi-faceted complex that includes the current Equestrian club, a future Marina, a large convention and banqueting complex and a Balneo Therapy Centre, the Park Hyatt will also be the first hotel in Jeddah to offer an unrestricted access to the seafront.

This innovative project is an impressive engineering feat that reclaimed an expanse of prime waterfront property from the Red Sea, while retaining the delicate balance of the surrounding marine life.

The commercial and financial districts, as well as the main shopping and entertainment areas of Jeddah are nearby making the development an ideal launching point where visitors can easily conduct business or explore more leisurely pursuits. – TradeArabia News Service
