Flydubai adds 9th aircraft to fleet

Dubai, June 16, 2010

Dubai's low cost carrier flydubai received its ninth Boeing 737-800NG at Dubai International Airport Terminal 2 last night (June 15).

The brand new aircraft will go straight into service on the latest flydubai route, the Dubai-Istanbul service. The carrier has a target of 13 delivered aircraft by the end of 2010.

“The arrival of a ninth aircraft is testament to the planning and hard work of the team and shows flydubai’s dedication to providing the highest standards of safety, reliability and quality by investing in the expansion of our fleet of next generation aircraft,” stated flydubai CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith.

Since operations began on June 1 2009, flydubai has operated almost 8,000 flights with 85 per cent departing on time. In May alone, Dubai’s first low cost airline operated 1,000 flights recording an on-time performance of 92 per cent, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
