Kazakhstan opens new shopping centre
Dubai, July 10, 2010
Kazakhstan recently marked the 12th anniversary of Astana’s announcement as the capital city with the opening of a new entertainment and shopping centre.
The new Khan Shatyr Shopping and Entertainment Center is located on the city’s axis and is recognized as Central Asia’s largest shopping and entertainment center, said a statement.
The 150-meter high pyramid-shaped building is designed by British architect Lord Norman Foster and built by Sembol Construction, a Turkish construction company, established by Fettah Tamince and T Aytekin Gültekin.
Khan Shatyr houses 160 luxurious boutiques and renowned international brands which are introduced to the country for the first time. Given Astana’s harsh climate conditions (down to -35°C) during the winter season, the center is built to provide a warm atmosphere throughout the year.
Khan Shatyr is the world’s first shopping center which contains an aqua park, water slides, a swimming pool, a wave pool and an indoor beach, the statement added.
The beach is located at the top of the building with its sand specially brought from the Maldives. The sand even gets heated to provide natural feeling of a real beach.
The center contains six cinema halls, a mini-golf course, merry-go rounds, bumper cars, sports areas, parks, a children’s entertainment area across 9000 square meters as well as several seven-meter tall palm trees used as part of the interior landscape decoration.
The center will also host international caliber concerts and shows throughout the year.
The spa and fitness centre within Khan Shatyr also displays iconic facilities with exclusively designed VIP areas offering signature treatments, a Turkish bath, yoga and fitness center, as well various restaurants offering international cuisine. – TradeArabia News Service
