Gulf Air extends suspension of Beirut service

Manama, April 6, 2011

Bahrain national carrier Gulf Air has extended its suspension of flights to Lebanon until the end of this month.

The airline updated its website yesterday to state there would be no flights between Bahrain and Beirut until April 30.

'The decision has been taken following the ongoing security situation in the country,' said the airline.

Gulf Air flights to and from Beirut had been set to resume tomorrow after initially being cancelled on March 23.

Its flights to and from Iran and Iraq have also been suspended until April 30.

Passengers holding confirmed tickets that fall during the suspension period are being offered full refunds or bookings at a later date.

For further information, passengers should contact the Gulf Air Worldwide contact centre on 17335777.

Bahrain Air announced on Sunday that it had extended the suspension of all flights to Beirut, Najaf, Baghdad, Mashhad until June 20.

The airlines took the decision after the government accused Iran and Lebanon-based terror organisation Hizbollah of interfering in Bahrain's domestic affairs.-TradeArabia News Service
