Adat, Thomsom Airways extend deal

Abu Dhabi, November 17, 2011

Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (Adat), part of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, has extended its long term relationship with Thomson Airways, one of the world’s largest charter airlines.

Leading Middle East independent maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider, has been awarded ten heavy maintenance checks for the 2011/12 winter maintenance period by Thomson Airways, a statement from the company said.

The heavy maintenance agreement comprises three Boeing 757 checks and seven Boeing 767 checks, including a number of end-of-lease checks and pylon modifications. Adat has performed more than 30 heavy maintenance checks for Thomson Airways since 2009.

James Stewart, group CEO of Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, said: “Thomson Airways has been a long-term partner for Adat and SR Technics, and this additional agreement represents a further endorsement of the service provided by the network.”

Jason Mahoney, director of engineering for Thomson Airways, said: “This latest agreement with Adat is an important expansion of our relationship, and I have no doubt that the exemplary service provided by the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network will continue.”

Thomson Airways is one of the world's largest charter airlines and forms part of the TUI group, its aircraft fleet consisting of Boeing 737,757 and 767 aircraft and Airbus 320 and 321 aircraft and will be the first UK operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, expected in early 2013.

The company offers scheduled and charter flights from the UK to destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America, the statement said.

It commenced operations on November 1, 2008, following the merger and subsequent re-branding of Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways.

Thomson Airways is headquartered in Luton, UK. It carried over 10.9 million passengers in 2010, making it the third largest UK airline by total passengers, it said. – TradeArabia News Service
