Muscat Tourism picks brand design winner

The Oman Ministry of Tourism has declared Muna Al Mashani, a young Omani creative designer as the winner of its 'Muscat Arab Tourism Capital 2012' brand competition.
The winning design for the 'Muscat Arab Tourism Capital 2012' brand will feature in all the ministry’s local and international promotions.
The design uses the symbolism of coffee (kahwa) being poured from a pot (delah), with the delah’s design including patterns from Omani caps and kumah, she explained.
Arabic calligraphy spells Muscat at thanking the lines of Omani of jewelry, architecture and Mutrah’s corniche. The colours used are from the Oman Brand palette for cultural and heritage.
Maitha Al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism and the head of Muscat 2012 Committee said it will encourage tourism stakeholders to adopt this new design.
'Muna’s design took the imagination of our judges - it is a standout. The design conveys Oman’s warm hospitality and uses calligraphy to illustrate Omani jewelry, architecture and Mutrah Corniche,' Al Mahrouqi said.
The ministry said Muna was picked up from more than 380 entries. 'We were delighted at the end of judging to discover the winner was a young creative design professional with the Dhofar Governrate, Wilayat of Taqah,' said Al Mahrouqi.
Commenting on the win, Muna said, “It is a dream come true. It was a great challenge and I have learnt a lot. To be shortlisted was a major accomplishment, but to win is very satisfying.'
Al Mahrouqi said Muna will value receiving the prize but more so the pride in seeing her brand being used to promote Oman.-TradeArabia News Service
