2,000 free air show tickets for students

Manama, January 6, 2014

More than 2,000 students will be given free tickets to the upcoming Bahrain International Air Show (BIAS).

The event will take place from January 16 to 18 at the Sakhir Air Base, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad's personal representative and BIAS Supreme Organising Committee head Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

It is being organised by the Transportation Ministry, Civil Aviation Affairs Authority and international industry consultants Farnborough International Limited and is expected to attract up to 20,000 trade visitors from more than 25 countries.

Two thousand top public and private school students will get free access to the public area on the first day of the air show, while 300 university students interested in aviation will be given access to the trade area on each day.

It is part of an arrangement between the Transportation Ministry and the Education Ministry.

The show will feature flying displays, flight simulators, a space zone exhibition run by the UK's National Space Centre and mad science workshops.

The Arabian section of the 99's International Women Pilots Organisation will also have a presence and engage with students about opportunities in the aviation sector.

Tickets cost BD7 ($18) for adults and BD3 for children and are available from Batelco retail stores. - TradeArabia News Service
