Dubai hotel guests to pay new fee

Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) plans to impose a new fee on guests staying at hotels and hotel apartments, a report said.

The the amount of "tourism dirham" fee has not yet been announced. It will will be paid by guests staying at 1-5 star hotels and deluxe and standard hotel apartments “per hotel room, per night,” the Gulf News report said quoting DTCM sources.

The fee, to be announced in a week, is aimed at helping Dubai’s tourism sector grow, it said.
