Dubai, May 21, 2014
Saudi-based King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), one of the largest economic projects in the Middle East, plans to develop 10 new hotels by 2020 adding 2,000 new hotel rooms to the market to meet the surging visitor demand.
KAEC plays a significant role and has great impact on social and economic development, both in the region and the kingdom in specific.
These hotel projects are vital for the economic city which is poised to become the leading destination for business, leisure and extended services for religious tourism within the kingdom, remarked Fahd Al-Rasheed, the KAEC managing director and CEO.
Al Rasheed was giving a presentation of the city’s vision and future plans for tourism and hospitality at this year's 'Arabian Hotel Investment Conference' (AHIC 2014)' held at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
KAEC was a leading participant at the conference which was held under the theme “A View of Hotel Investment over a Decade.”
Meanwhile, Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina, the first hotel in KAEC managed by Al Khozama, won top honours at World Travel Awards Middle East which was held in parallel to the AHIC in Dubai. It was named the 'Leading New Destination Hotel' in Saudi Arabia.
Hailed by the Wall Street Journal as the "Travel industry's equivalent to the Oscars", the World Travel Awards are considered as one of the most comprehensive and prestigious events in the global travel industry today.
Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina consists of 195 rooms complemented by world class facilities including a conference and banquet hall, seven meeting rooms, a restaurant, a mosque, gym and, soon to come, a Marina and yacht club.
When asked about the award, Al-Rasheed, said: "Our success in winning the award is a great testament to the highest standards of hospitality provided by Bay La Sun Hotel & Marina where KAEC’s first hotel offers its guests total comfort in a beautiful location on the canals and marina."-TradeArabia News Service
