Holiday bookings via mobile on the rise in UAE

About 50 per cent of traffic on a leading online travel agency’s website in the UAE comes from mobile devices and it accounts for about 35 per cent of overall bookings.
Triperna recently launched a redesign of the website to ensure it is visually friendly, simple to use and full of sharable information to ensure optimum usability, said a statement.

However, with our mobile site, we see that consumers are going through with the whole booking process on their handheld devices. On a global scale, worldwide bookings by smartphones accounted for only about two per cent in developed markets. About 70 per cent of hotel bookings made via smartphone are decided on within 24 hours. Because of this, on both a local and international level it is imperative that the travel industry get ‘mobile ready’ as the growth in booking via smartphones and tablets continues to grow.
