Amadeus shares technology with Egypt travel trade
Cairo, August 24, 2014
Amadeus, a leading technology partner in the global travel industry, has announced the success of its 2014 Eductour – an event for Egypt’s travel industry leaders.
Held in Munich, Germany, the ‘Driving Technology Together’ themed event aimed to share with its travel partners the many ways in which technology can help them better serve their customers, grow their businesses, and shape the future of travel, a statement said.
The conference, which was organised in cooperation with Egyptair, also included an opportunity for the participating companies – Thomas Cook, Travco Travel Services, Astra Travel, Excel Travel, Carlson Wagonlit, Blue Sky Travel, Abo Samra Travel, Metro Travel, Mena Tours, and Rea Sea Tours – to visit the Amadeus central data centre, it said.
The 50,000 sq m Erding site is home to Amadeus’ central system, which processes over 1.6 billion transactions and 3 million net bookings per day, making the central data centre one of the world’s largest data processing centres dedicated to the travel industry, the statement said.
“We are committed to working together with the Egyptian travel industry to shape the future of travel through trips such as our 2014 Eductour Egypt event,” said Khaled Gad, general manager of Amadeus Egypt. “We believe in building and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial relationships and focusing on our customers’ ever-evolving business needs – and our data centre in Erding exemplifies this belief.” - TradeArabia News Service
