First batch of pilgrims arrives in Madinah

The new Haj season has begun with the arrival of the first batch of pilgrims at the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.
The pilgrims, from Malaysia, India and Bangladesh, were received by a number of officials from the Ministry of Haj and their respective embassies, according to a Saudi Press Agency report.
Deputy head of Malaysian pilgrims' office Noreen Anwar bin Shamsuddin praised the efforts of the kingdom to ensure proper care of the pilgrims, the report said.
Meanwhile, more than 136,000 Indians are slated to perform Haj this year, a report in the Arab News stated. The report also stated that Dhaka is planning to send nearly 99,000 pilgrims this year.
