Ras Al Khaimah ... 65 km of coastline.

RAK guest nights hit 1.47 million this year

Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), a UAE emirate and a leading tourist destination, reported more than 1,470,000 guest nights by the end of the third quarter of 2014.

Last year the destination, which has 65 km of prime beach coastline. hit the one-million mark only in November.

During the third quarter, guest nights grew by an impressive 72 per cent, said Steven Rice, chief executive officer of RAK Tourism Development Authority.

Rice said: "We are also seeing significant increases in the number of people searching for Ras Al Khaimah in Google, in visits to our website, and in the levels of engagement via our social media presence. In addition, hotel room revenue increased in the third quarter of 2014 by 47 per cent compared to last year.”

The growth was supported by the recent opening of Al Marjan Island and Ras Al Khaimah Waldorf Astoria, which is the Hilton luxury brand’s first property in the UAE.

Ras Al Khaimah reported over 63,870 guest nights during the five days of the recent Eid holidays with domestic UAE tourism, the strongest source market, accounting for 32 per cent, UK 12 per cent, Russia 11 per cent and Germany 10 per cent.

Rice said: “Forward bookings are looking strong, interest in the emirate across multiple business sectors is on the rise and overall we expect the positive growth patterns to continue.” - TradeArabia News Service
