ICAO asks Saudi’s Gaca to upgrade systems
JEDDAH, October 27, 2014
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has asked Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (Gaca) to upgrade its systems in accordance with regulations, a report said.
Representatives of ICAO told the Authority to upgrade its On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI) and Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) systems during a recent ICAO meeting, added the report in Saudi Gazette.
According to ICAO, the upgrade will greatly reduce the problems that occur due to the crowding of Saudi Arabia’s airspace, Makkah Daily reported.
During a meeting held in June, ICAO asked Gaca to implement more precautionary mechanisms to reduce the distance between air paths over the Kingdom's airspace, the Saudi Gazette report said.
