AIG distributes heaters, blankets to underprivileged families

AMMAN, December 17, 2014

Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), distributed heaters, blankets and gasoline coupons to 200 underprivileged families in Al Jizah, an improvised area located in the vicinity of the airport.

The annual Winter Campaign, which falls under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development.

To support its on-ground activities, AIG also launched a Twitter campaign through the hashtag #TweetForHeatJo, which was used by Jordanian tweeps to raise public awareness and promote community solidarity.

Kjeld Binger, chief executive officer, said: “Each year, we strive to empower local communities through our CSR activities and programmes. We hope that our Winter Campaign has helped cover some of the basic needs of disadvantaged families in Al Jizah during these harsh winter months.

“As always, I would like to thank all the AIG employees who volunteered this year. I’d also like to give a special ‘thank you’ to Jordan’s tweeps for tweeting their support and helping us raise the campaign’s visibility. Awareness is the first step to positive action - we look forward to seeing greater community involvement in delivering aid where and when it matters most.” - TradeArabia News Service
